Style, comfort, and timeless sophistication.
Founded in 2012 and based in Rome, Italy, Arlene Gibbs Décor is the eponymous interiors firm of Arlene Gibbs, a successful decorator and writer well recognized for her fashion-forward point of view on style.
Arlene believes that every room of a home is meant to be lived in, without sacrificing style for comfort. Her distinctive design sensibility is strongly influenced by her Caribbean upbringing, film background, life in Italy and natural instinct for color, pattern, and form. Whether classic elegance for a high-level foreign diplomat, chic comfort for a busy Hollywood film executive, or a charming terrace for an always entertaining Italian professional, Arlene creates spaces that speak to her clients’ wants and needs.
Born in New York City, Arlene earned her undergraduate degree from Syracuse University and currently lives in Rome, Italy. She worked for fifteen years in Hollywood as a film executive/producer and a screenwriter. From 2005 to 2012, Arlene created and authored the popular blog NYC/caribbeanragazza. She wrote the novel “The Rebirth of Mrs. Tracey Higgins” (2011) and co-wrote the hit feature film “Jumping the Broom” (2011).
Arlene is currently working on projects in Anguilla – British West Indies, Los Angeles, and Rome.

Wow! Longtime visitor to nyc/caribbean ragazza but it’s been a while. Congratulations on living the dream! Inspiring! I’m in my 40s, at a crossroads, figuring it out. After living in Rome in college, I thought I’d move back one day but… life happened. Visited St. Martin this past Christmas and vowed to live the friendly island life ASAP. Only time will tell. But I’m starting French lessons this week. 🙂
